Houston will host World Cup matches in 2026, FIFA announced Thursday.
An unknown number of games will be played at NRG Stadium in the summer 2026. Houston is one of 11 U.S. cities that will be host sites along with three cities in Mexico and two in Canada. The 2026 World Cup is jointly hosted by the three nations.
This is the first time Houston will host World Cup games in the city’s history. The 1994 World Cup in the U.S. featured nine host cities, but Houston was not involved.
